Hosted and Cloud Based Servers

Where would a Hosted or Cloud Based Server benefit a company or Organisation?
At typical Scenario would be a Solicitors Company with many Branch Offices. Traditionally there would be a Server in each Office with multiple PC’s accessing Microsoft Office type documents, Applications designed for that industry with related Client Information and an integrated email server perhaps with its own domain e.g. ajones@moldabsolicitors.co.uk. Another Office maybe bdavies@wrexhamabsolicitors.co.uk and there it gets difficult and expensive to manage.

There would be little collaboration between the branch offices as if a solicitor wanted to work at an office which is not their normal base, they would have to have a form of computer juggling to access documents from their base office etc..

So a more streamlined approach would be to centralise a Company or Organisation Wide Server which would be hosted in the Cloud.

Client Applications would be installed only on the centralised server. Microsoft Office type documents with appropriate access rights would be accessible from any branch office. There would be only one Microsoft Exchange Mail Server or Office 365 account to manage. For example. ajones@absolicitors.co.uk and bdavies@absolicitors.co.uk

One major caveat to this approach is that communications at the branch offices would need to be fast enough to cope with the continuous traffic required to effectively operate in this scenario.
